Start in San Jose. A unique experience awaits you as you slowly float down the scenic river - surrounded by forests which are home to anteaters, raccoons, sloths, jaguars, monkeys, ocelots and birds - until you find yourself at your lodge, situated in the Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica within the protected zone of the river Pacuare. You’ll have the chance to Visit the largest Indian tribe in Costa Rica and learn about their culture, traditions and beliefs. Experience Costa Rica's highest Canopy Tour - admire the exotic beauty of the rainforest along with the adrenaline rush. Alternatively, experience the white water magic as you raft the thrilling rapids coursing through rugged canyons and verdant tropical rainforests, on one of the most exotic and scenic rivers in the world. A riverside picnic awaits you afterwards.

Continue to your next lodge, situated directly in Tortuguero National Park, where you can find 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles, and 60 species of mammals. More than 300 species of birds live in Tortuguero for all or part of the year.

A stay on the Oa Peninsula will further satisfy lovers of nature and the outdoors. Your seaside lodge will allow you to enjoy the beach, but the focus here is clearly on enjoying the overwhelming nature of the rainforest. You’re likely to see monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, sloths and a variety of other creatures roaming around.

We recommend organising your very own 4x4 SUV. Drive to little-known places on the Pacific Coast and delight in the often deserted wild beaches . That is, if you’re looking for solitude and wilderness.

After a fews days in Arenal, drive on to Rincon de la Vieja - a massive Volcano bordering with Nicaragua. On the fertile slopes of the volcano is an exciting jungle, protected by the Rincón de la Vieja National Park. Volcanic phenomena such as sulphurous streams, steaming caves, sizzling stone fields or bubbling mud holes are to be witnessed. Guided treks to the summit of the volcano and canopy tours are available; but if you want to take it easy, enjoy a hike in the national park, where different length paths lead through the jungle. The area exudes a certain mystique, especially in the evening, when the blazing red sun sets behind the mountains onto the Pacific.
