Koh Samui, Thailand with Belmond Napasai

18.July 2016

Belmond Napasai invited Travel Designers to visit their beautiful property in Koh Samui and explore the island.

An afternoon flight from Zürich to Bangkok with Thai Airways and a connecting flight straight to Koh Samui let us arrive in the morning, ready to enjoy a full day.

After a warm welcome at the Belmond Napasai, we were brought to our villas. A beautiful view of the ocean and the island Koh Phangan in the far back awaited us. The simple and spacious rooms have a cotton and bamboo interior which create a homey feeling. An outside terrace and a comfortable relaxing area gives one the choice to unwind and enjoy either the warm and admirable island climate or the refreshing cool room.

An adventure awaited us next - a private chartered sailing boat took us around the island. What a great way to receive a first impression of Koh Samui. We were spoilt with delicious food prepared freshly on board by the food and beverage team of the Napasai Belmond. Further there was a masseuse letting us feel full relaxation. The day was fulfilled with a lovely candlelight BBQ dinner on the beach of the Moo Kata restaurant.

The next day started with a Yoga session. What a great way to start the day. A fantastic Thai Yoga teacher gave one of the best lessons experienced, overlooking the ocean and sensing the fresh island breeze. A grand breakfast buffet strengthened us, ready to get a site inspection by the general manager of the whole resort...we got to discover the secret garden....
One of the sous chef then took us to a local food market, explaining us the different ingredients of the Thai kitchen. A cooking class followed, letting us try hand on to create a Thai lunch.
In the afternoon we were spoilt in the Spa. After the treatment many other hotels on the island were inspected in order to know, what options there are and figure which hotel on the island matches which client.
After a dinner in the secret garden we went to Fisherman's Village were we strolled along the night market and bought souvenirs.

The morning further hotels were inspected before an island excursion started. The tour lead us to all the highlights of the small island, giving us the chance to explore the potential of the island and letting us figure which attractions we should suggest to our clients. After a long and interesting day the private balcony of the villa offered the perfect space to enjoy the sunset.
As usual, time flies quickly and in the nightfall it was already time for the fare well dinner. A delicious wine paring menu was served in the Lai Thai Restaurant.
