In the central highlands of Guatemala is Antigua; one of the world’s best conserved colonial cities, it seems as though time has stopped there 300 years ago. Nestled between three volcanoes, its setting alone is breathtaking. We’d love to show you its cultural centre and its most beautiful churches, monasteries and convents. A fifteen minute drive by private transfer will take you to San Antonio Aguascalientes, a town known for its wonderful weaving and other handicrafts. We’d also love to show you Chichicastenango, a town renowned for its traditional Maya Indian culture, as well as having the second largest outdoor market in Latin America. For a stunning look at Mayan archeological remains, we can take you to Tikal National Park in the north of Guatemala.
Your trip wouldn’t be complete without witnessing Central America’s deepest lake, Lago de Atitlan, which in Mayan translates to “the place where the rainbow gets its color”. Aldous Huxleyfamously wrote of it:
"Lake Como, it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitlán is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. It really is too much of a good thing."
Take a scenic boat ride across the lake, viewing along the way three towering, majestic Volcanoes - Atitlan, Toliman and San Pedro. Stop by a native village, one known for being one of the most authentic and best kept secrets in Guatemala.
