Nature Conservation in Malaysia

Borneo, Malaysia

Today, there are an estimated 20-27’000 Orangutans left in the wild, the majority of which are in Borneo. Deforestation, human encroachment, indiscriminate hunting and live animal trade are all factors which have greatly contributed to the decline in Orang Utan population. Gain a better understanding of this incredibly smart and loveable animal - partake in the once in a lifetime experience, a close encounter with the "Man of the Forest". This is a chance to see and care for semi-wild animals, ranging from tiny infants and boisterous adolescents to dignified mature adults, enjoying life in a secure natural habitat, and who are undergoing a rehabilitation program to return to the wild.

Contribute to one of the world’s most important conservation programs for sea turtles, on Selingan Turtle Island. After spending a day swimming the clear waters, join a ranger to observe the turtle laying eggs on the beach. Later the eggs are transferred to the hatchery and if there are young turtles around, you can watch their release to the sea.
